MIAMI, Florida – Friday, March 15, 2019, the Miami Tower will show its support for Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by illuminating the building blue tonight. Located in the heart of downtown Miami, the Miami Tower stands as one of the most iconic and recognizable buildings in the city; we could not think of a better beacon of awareness in Miami.
After speaking with Miami Tower property manager, Ian Miranda, it was clear that Miami Tower’s management team deeply cares for its Miami community and the importance of our awareness efforts by fast-tracking our request to include Miami Tower in our fight to against colorectal cancer.
According to the American Cancer Association, colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men and women.
The good news is that these death rates are dropping, mostly in part to increased screening habits. However, screening rates are still incredibly low.
Did you know the 5-year survival rate for colorectal cancer found early enough can be up to 90%? However, because screening rates are still so low, less than 40% of cancer cases are found early.
Don’t be a statistic. If you are over 45 and haven’t been checked or under 45 with a family history of colorectal cancer please schedule a consultation with your gastroenterologist.
Please help us raise awareness for this deadly but highly preventable disease by taking pictures of the Miami Tower tonight with hashtags #flgastro #BlueForCRC #colorectalawarenessmonth
If you or your organization would like to show your support of our Colorectal Awareness campaign please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
